Building for a lower-carbon future.
Gelmedix addresses concrete's carbon footprint on two parallel pathways. First: a lower-clinker formulation — calcined clay and synthetic pozzolan SCM blending — that reduces embodied CO2 at the point of production, where 85–90% of a typical ready-mix concrete's carbon resides. Second: the self-healing mechanism, which reduces the frequency of repair mobilizations over the structure's service life — each avoided mobilization eliminating the vehicle movements, equipment deployments, and re-pour carbon of that intervention. We do not claim both pathways are certified. We claim they are real, they are designed-in, and the framing on this site is honest about what is a target and what is a result.
Request SpecificationThree phases of carbon reduction
GX materials target carbon reduction at every stage of the concrete lifecycle — not just at production.
Material Production
Lower clinker content through calcined clay and synthetic pozzolan blending. GX formulations target 25–50% reduction in embodied CO2 vs OPC baseline at the production stage — the largest single carbon source in the concrete supply chain.
Construction & Operations
Fewer repair mobilizations over the service life means fewer vehicle movements, equipment deployments, and material deliveries to the site. Each avoided mobilization eliminates the operational carbon of that intervention — which can be significant for remote or traffic-sensitive locations.
End of Life
Infrastructure elements that reach their intended design life without major intervention are replaced on schedule rather than early. Deferred demolition and replacement — or elimination of unplanned early replacement — represents a significant deferred carbon cost, particularly for large infrastructure elements.
Our sustainability design targets
All targets below are aspirational goals for the GX product programme. They are design intents, not certified measurements. No LEED, BREEAM, or ASTM certification is claimed.
| Target | Metric | Framing | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Embodied CO2 reduction — GX-30 | ~25–30% | Designed to target | vs OPC baseline; indicative, not EPD-certified |
| Embodied CO2 reduction — GX-50 | ~45–50% | Designed to target | vs OPC baseline; highest SCM replacement level |
| Maintenance mobilization reduction | ≥ 1 fewer intervention per 25yr cycle | Our goal is to achieve | Based on modelled crack intervention frequency — not yet field-confirmed at scale |
| LEED v4 contribution | MR Building Product Disclosure credits (contribution) | Designed to contribute to | Contribution language — GX does not carry a LEED certification |
| ASTM C618 compliance target | Class N pozzolan requirements | Designed to comply with | For calcined clay SCM component — compliance-targeting, not yet certified |
Specify for the lifecycle, not just the pour.
Our technical team can provide project-specific sustainability framing, compliance-targeting language for LEED v4 MR credits, and the honesty about what GX does and does not currently certify. The specifier's job is to write an accurate specification; our job is to give them the right material to work with.
